Board Role - Secretary (Voluntary)

THE OPPORTUNITY

CALD2LEAD has been transforming and strengthening communities since 2019. We work in partnership with organisations and Culturally and Linguistically Diverse (CALD) communities to provide scholarships and high-quality leadership programs that empower CALD women leaders. Join our Board as Secretary and help us make an even bigger difference by strengthening our governance, compliance, and organisational effectiveness as we continue to grow our impact and partnerships. CALD2LEAD is an Incorporated Association governed by a voluntary Board committed to advancing the organisation’s vision and purpose. Our Board works collaboratively across strategy, governance, fundraising, administration, and program delivery. There are currently seven members on the Board, and we are seeking an experienced, organised, and committed Secretary to support the effective functioning of the Board and ensure strong governance practices. Board members at CALD2LEAD carry important legal and ethical responsibilities to ensure the organisation delivers on its not-for-profit objectives. This includes contributing time, compassion, energy, expertise, and strategic insight through governance, committee work, fundraising, and community engagement. As CALD2LEAD operates without paid employees, Board members may also contribute to operational priorities such as events, stakeholder engagement, fundraising, and program delivery. OUR PURPOSE
To provide CALD women with access to leadership development opportunities so that there is more diversity in society’s leadership and decision-making.

WHO ARE WE LOOKING FOR?
We are looking for experienced Non-Executive Directors that can fulfil the voluntary duties and responsibilities of Deputy Chair on our Board of Directors (see Position Description attached).
● Bring a network in CALD communities
● Supporting the work of our Chair as second in charge
● Representing CALD2LEAD as a public face of the organisation
● Leading specific projects and initiatives
● Helping with fundraising and engagement events

We are looking for an experienced governance professional, administrator, or emerging Board leader who can fulfil the voluntary duties and responsibilities of Secretary on our Board of Directors (see Position Description).

The successful candidate will ideally:
● Support the Chair and Board through effective governance and administration
● Coordinate Board and General Meetings, agendas, minutes, and action tracking
● Maintain governance records and ensure compliance with statutory obligations
● Manage correspondence and support effective communication across the organisation
● Provide governance advice and contribute to strategic discussions and decision making
● Assist with fundraising, events, and community initiatives where required

You will be expected to commit approximately 10-15 hours per month, including monthly Board meetings (primarily online), meeting preparation, follow-up actions, and ongoing governance and administrative responsibilities associated with the role and CALD2LEAD’s purpose.
